What is tai chi(Tai Chi Quan)

Tai Chi (Taiji), short for Tai Chi Chuan (Taiji Quan; 太极拳), is an internal Chinese martial art practiced not only for self-defense but also for health improvement. The term Taiji embodies the philosophy of the forces of Yin and Yang, intricately woven into the graceful movements of Tai Chi.

Although originally conceived as a martial art, Tai Chi is now practiced in various forms — from competitive combat (Push Hands - Tui Shou) and demonstrations to exercises promoting longevity. It is a unique art where slow and fluid movements characterize the training forms.

Tai Chi attracts people worldwide. Modern styles of Tai Chi trace their roots to one of the five traditional styles: Chen, Yang, Wu (Hao), Wu, and Sun. These styles can be traced back to the renowned village of Chen Jia Gou, offering a variety of techniques and philosophies.
